Contaminated land desk study

London-based WF Electrical wished to undertake work on the infrastructure of a storage and distribution centre in Dagenham. To exercise due diligence prior to excavating the existing factory floor, Environmental Management Consultants staff were asked to carry out a desk-based study.

The desk study collated and assessed historical and current information from a range of sources. The desk study uses the Source, Pathway, Receptor model to identify likely sources of contamination and how these sources could affect potential site users and workers, as well as local water sources and other wider implications. The desk study identified potential contamination and recommended intrusive investigation. This enabled WF Electrical to demonstrate due diligence, and avoid risks to human health and the environment while carry out their planned work at the site.
